Sustainable Development Intern
We are looking for a Sustainable Development Intern to join our Sustainability team in our Bolton Food Business Unit, based in Milan, Italy.
How You Make the Difference:
Sustainability is at the core of how Bolton Food operates — from responsible fishing practices to reducing environmental impact across our supply chain. As a Sustainable Development Intern, you will directly contribute to advancing our ESG agenda, supporting the design and monitoring of sustainability programmes that protect marine ecosystems, reduce emissions, and strengthen community partnerships. Your work will have a real and measurable impact on our long-term commitment to operating as a responsible business.
How Your Agenda Looks Like:
- Promoting and implementing the commitments and initiatives of the global sustainable development strategy, adapting them to local context and needs;
- Nourishing and taking care of our transformational partnerships (WWF and Oxfam), actively participating in meetings, organizing related activities and producing documents and presentations;
- Fostering and implementing decarbonization and water reduction projects in our Operations, reducing environmental footprint and moving progressively towards a complete circular economy;
- Developing and implementing initiatives to strengthen human rights in our supply chain to support our employees and communities;
- Support the Regional manager in being the point of contact on sustainability for other functions at regional level (marketing, sales, operations, procurement, HR) and taking part to inter-functional projects;
- Monitoring data to track progress towards sustainability targets and goals and managing the data collection process for Bolton Sustainability Report within the region.
- Supporting marketing and corporate communication departments in the development of sustainability related communication activities;
- Dealing with local compliance/regulations.
Your Team:
You will report directly to the Sustainable Development EMEA Manager. You will also work closely with the Group Corporate Affairs and ESG team based in Milan.
How You Look Like:
- Proven academic background in Environmental Science, Sustainability, International Relations, Business with a sustainability focus, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD) or EU sustainability regulations — through coursework, projects, or prior internship experience
- Previous experience in structured/multinational companies is preferable, in particular a food marketing-related background;
- Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus
