About the Role:

We are looking for a Principal 3D Design Engineer who can take ownership of complex modelling projects and help establish the technical standards used across our design team. You will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to transform concepts and technical requirements into accurate, detailed, and production ready 3D models.
This is a senior technical position for an experienced professional who enjoys solving difficult design problems, improving workflows, and mentoring other designers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
3D Design Leadership:
Lead the development of complex 3D models for architectural, engineering, industrial, and product design projects.
Technical Standards:
Create and maintain modelling standards, file structures, design libraries, templates, and quality control procedures.
Project Delivery:
Manage 3D design activities from initial concept development through detailed modelling, technical documentation, coordination, and final handover.
Design Coordination:
Work with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, product teams, and external consultants to ensure that models meet technical and project requirements.
Quality Assurance:
Review models for accuracy, constructability, dimensional compliance, design consistency, and alignment with applicable technical specifications.
Workflow Improvement:
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes, improve modelling efficiency, and reduce design errors.
Team Mentoring:
Support and mentor junior and mid level designers by conducting technical reviews, sharing best practices, and providing constructive feedback.
Client Collaboration:
Participate in technical meetings, present design solutions, and explain modelling decisions to clients and project stakeholders.
Technical Problem Solving:
Resolve complex modelling, geometry, coordination, and design integration issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Documentation:
Prepare technical drawings, model documentation, specifications, presentations, and project reports when required.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 7 years of professional experience in 3D design, CAD, BIM, architectural modelling, product design, or engineering visualisation.
Senior Level Expertise:
Previous experience leading complex design projects, reviewing technical work, or mentoring other designers and engineers.
Education:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, Civil Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical discipline.
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of professional 3D modelling and CAD software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, 3ds Max, Blender, SketchUp, or similar platforms.
BIM Knowledge:
Strong understanding of BIM coordination, model structures, clash detection, design documentation, and multidisciplinary workflows is highly desirable.
Portfolio:
A strong professional portfolio demonstrating complex 3D modelling, technical design, engineering coordination, or visualisation projects is required.
Problem Solving:
You can analyse complex technical requirements and translate them into accurate and practical design solutions.
Communication:
You are confident presenting technical concepts, discussing design decisions, and collaborating with both technical and non technical stakeholders.
Language Skills:
Professional proficiency in Italian is required. Good working proficiency in English is preferred for technical documentation and international project collaboration.
Mindset:
You are detail oriented, practical, and comfortable taking responsibility for technically demanding projects. You understand when a model requires further refinement and when it is ready for delivery.
