Job Description
An opportunity has arisen in the Risk Service Unit for an Underwriting Industry Team Leader. This role is accountable for driving underwriting excellence in the team, building strong relationships with the commercial units, customers, brokers and agents, creating a collaborative spirit, shaping risk strategies, ensuring sustainable portfolio performance, driving innovation, and high focus on staff retention and staff development to support profitable growth of the business. Applications are welcomed from candidates who are currently serving as Team Coordinators (T3) and who wish to broaden their professional experience and work in a challenging credit-risk environment.
In this position your key responsibilities will be:
Reporting to the Buyer Underwriting Senior Manager, you will:
- Lead and drive the underwriting strategy, ensuring sound risk assessment and portfolio performance.
- Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on complex underwriting decisions and major risk exposures.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture while supporting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, buyers and key stakeholders.
- Monitor market, sector and economic trends, translating insights into effective underwriting and portfolio strategies.
- Develop, coach and retain talent, supporting team growth and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with Atradius risk policies, governance standards and performance objectives.
What qualification should you have?
- Strong underwriting expertise with a strategic, analytical and commercially minded approach.
- Solid understanding of sector dynamics, credit risk and macroeconomic trends.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
