Overview:
Technical Sales Engineer – Performance Carbon | Europe (Italy focus / remote)
The Role
You’ll own and grow a region, with a clear expectation: develop new business and expand what already exists. The role is evolving in that direction, so expect a genuine focus on opening doors, building pipelines, and creating opportunities where they don’t yet exist.
There’s still an account management element, but the real impact comes from developing new markets, new customers, and new applications for the product range
Responsibilities:
- Drive sales growth with a strong emphasis on new business development
-
Build, shape and convert a healthy pipeline (not just maintain one)
-
Manage and grow existing accounts while actively expanding into new areas
-
Act as the main contact for customers from first conversation to after-sales
-
Deliver against sales, pricing and margin targets
-
Identify new market opportunities and bring them to life
-
Develop tailored, value-added technical solutions with customers
-
Lead commercial negotiations, contracts and proposals
-
Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations and product teams
-
Use CRM to track activity, opportunities and progress
-
Represent the business at industry events and trade fairs
Qualifications:
- An engineering background, or similar technical qualification
-
Around 3–5 years’ experience in technical sales, ideally in manufacturing
-
A track record (or clear appetite) for business development, not just account management
-
Strong commercial awareness — comfortable with pricing, margins and budgets
-
Experience working with both direct customers and distributor channels
-
Confidence in selling technical, solution-based products
-
Strong negotiation skills and a proactive, "go find it" mindset
-
Comfortable working independently and building your own territory
-
Clear communication skills — able to make technical things make sense
-
Fluent Italian and English
Nice to Have
-
Experience in advanced materials or carbon-based products
-
Exposure to European industrial markets
-
Experience setting up or expanding activity in new markets

If you enjoy building something — rather than just managing it — you’ll likely find this more interesting than most sales roles.
