Cleantech Solar is looking for an experienced solar engineering professional to lead Design & Engineering activities for utility-scale and C&I Solar PV projects. The role encompasses full-cycle engineering management—ranging from conceptual planning and detailed design to compliance oversight, documentation, team leadership and continuous technical improvement.
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Engineering Strategy & Project Initiation
- Developing engineering strategies for new solar projects based on site data, grid requirements and project specifications
- Creating conceptual layouts, preliminary system designs and feasibility-level documents
- Coordinating closely with project management and business development during early planning
- Design Development & Technical Execution
- Leading and managing preparation of detailed engineering deliverables covering electrical, civil/structural and mechanical disciplines
- Overseeing the creation and review of:
- SLDs, layouts, bill of quantities
- Cable sizing, routing, earthing schemes
- Module mounting structures, foundations, load calculations
- Substation and inverter room designsOverseeing the creation and review of
- Approving technical documentation, vendor drawings and IFC packages
- Technical Leadership & Team Direction
- The candidate candidate should have good communication skills with knowledge of electrical systems, whilst being proficient in AutoCad, Google SketchUp, PV SYST
- Reviewing all the documents and drawings submitted by the contractor for the projects in execution stage and give approval for construction
- Performing Design Validation & BOQ finalisation of 230/132kV/33kV substations.
- Analysing/ interpreting/ summarising the results of the power system simulation softwares appropriate for design of electrical schemes & preparation of technical reports
- Preparing & evaluating the detailed BOQ of required components along with inputs on costing estimates
- Conducting site visits to project sites to assess feasibility
- Driving planning, task allocation, quality checks and productivity improvements
- Providing expert technical guidance, mentoring, and support for complex design challenges
- Regulatory Alignment & Standards Compliance
- Ensuring all designs align with applicable standards such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, IS codes and grid regulations
- Coordinating for permits, statutory submissions and compliance documentation
- Maintaining awareness of national/international solar engineering guidelines and integrating updates proactively
- Design Assurance & Quality Governance
- Establishing design review mechanisms to ensure accuracy, completeness and constructability
- Implementing quality control procedures for engineering outputs
- Driving value engineering and design optimisation initiatives to reduce cost and improve performance
- Technology Advancement & System Innovation
- Evaluating and adopting advanced PV technologies, tools and modeling techniques
- Collaborating with R&D or technical excellence teams to introduce new engineering methods
- Championing continuous improvement in energy yield, system reliability and design efficiency
- Risk Management & Technical Safeguards
- Identifying design-stage technical risks and preparing mitigation strategies
- Conducting engineering assessments to foresee operational or construction challenges
- Working with project execution teams to resolve design concerns early
- Documentation Control & Stakeholder Communication
- Preparing engineering reports, detailed calculations, progress summaries and project documentation
- Maintaining organised records of revisions, design files and technical approvals
- Supporting communication with clients, EPC partners and internal leadership through technical discussions and review meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in PV engineering, design management, or solar project engineering
- Expertise in solar PV plant design principles, system simulations, BoS engineering, and power evacuation systems.
- Proficiency in key tools: AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, ETAP, STAAD or equivalents
- Strong understanding of industry standards, design codes, and compliance protocols
- Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and project deliverables
- Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills

- Job location for the above position will be at Hyderabad with need-based travel to project sites
