Role Summary
The Managing Director is the most senior executive within the organisation, responsible for providing overall strategic direction and operational leadership . This role holds full accountability for the company's performance, including P&L management, business development, and the cultivation of a high-performance culture . As the public face of the company, the MD will represent the organisation to key stakeholders, including investors, clients, and regulatory bodies .
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and drive the company's long-term strategy, aligning it with the organisation's vision and short-term objectives .
- Translate global or board-level strategy into clear, executable business plans and priorities .
- Identify and lead new business opportunities, market expansion initiatives, and transformation programs to drive sustainable growth and profitability .
Operational & Financial Management
- Oversee all daily business operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and productivity across all departments .
- Hold full P&L accountability, managing budgets, forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation to maximise revenue and margins .
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against goals and ensure disciplined financial governance .
People & Culture
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing senior leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement .
- Oversee talent management, ensuring robust succession planning and leadership development programs to nurture future leaders .
- Champion the company's values and mission, embedding a positive and productive corporate culture .
Stakeholder & Governance
- Act as the primary ambassador for the company, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, investors, and the broader industry community .
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, reporting to the board on governance and business risks .
- Lead high-level negotiations for major contracts, partnerships, and investments .
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field is highly preferred .
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a relevant discipline is required .
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in senior executive leadership roles (e.g., General Manager, VP, or C-Suite) with a proven track record of success .
- Demonstrated experience in managing a P&L-driven business unit or enterprise with full accountability for financial performance .
- A history of leading large-scale operations, managing complex projects, and successfully entering new markets .
