In August of 2019 Jo and I stumbled on what would become our new home, a property with 360-degree views of the Umbrian countryside and the ancient town of Orvieto. The old Podere andnow Agritourismo is nestled in 6 hectares of young organic olive trees, some 1220 in total. It is situated 500 mtrs above sea level on a hillside between Benano and Viceno and consists of a large old farm building where we live and four newly refurbished 2 bedroomed houses named
Casa Isla, Casa Eva Casa Lila and Angolo Rose.
The Organic Olive farm is a full time project for us with at least three more years of refurbishment and development. As well as this we have the annual Olive harvest in late October November and the day to day tasks of wood chopping, gardening and cleaning.We are looking for an exceptional individual or a dynamic couple to help us finish our dream project. The will be based here at Casale Zeno included will be a one bedroomed apartment, bathroom, kitchen area and living room. This is scheduled to be refurbished in October 2026 but could be moved until 2027 depending on the permissions granted and local regulations.
Although there is no particular skill set required it would help if you had any background involving outside work like building,gardening or general maintenance, hospitality or similiar. We would insist on a good level of English and a willingness to learn Italian. On a daily basis the work would consist of gardening which would include strimming, Tree cutting, Log splitting, fence building and Looking after the hens and dog walking. Depending on the season the Pool requires daily cleaning and garden maintenance. The position will be initially for six months but could be extended if both parties are happy. The use of the apartment including utilities is provided and the provision of a vehicle to use forwork and local journeys. Hours per day, per week or monthly can be agreed mutually but will involve two days off per week.
