We are hiring a: Senior Manager, Customer Systems Engineering
Location: Guanzate, Italy
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Primarily on-site, based in Guanzate with hybrid flexibility available.
About the role
We're in search of a Senior Manager, Customer Systems Engineering who has the skills, passion, and vision to lead our project and service teams to success. We are looking for someone with a proven track record in managing multi-disciplined teams across wide geographies, and skilled in bringing diverse teams together to present to our customers as one united world class delivery team that inspires confidence and trust.
You will lead a team of around 18 people spanning office-based design and field-based service delivery, including a Service Manager who reports directly into this role and oversees a field-based team of 8–9 Service Engineers.
You will be responsible for the delivery of both automation and electric heaters projects across Italy (and in some cases other European countries) - balancing resource allocation between office-based and field-based work, ensuring strong financial performance, and maintaining customer relationships in the local language across the country.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver large scale industrial Heater systems - including Electric Circulation Heaters and Duct Heaters with associated control systems ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining up-to-date technical expertise across our technologies.
- Deliver industrial automation systems - including SCADA, DCS, and thyristor-based heat control solutions -from inception through operation, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining up-to-date technical expertise across our technologies.
- Oversee efficient use of field-based service team and 24/7 support contract business, helping to grow services as part of our portfolio offer.
- Collaborate and actively participate in pan-European projects, involving close cooperation with peers in other European countries, sharing resources, skills, for overall European resource efficiency across both Projects and Services.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, while balancing and allocating resources between office-based design engineers and field-based service engineers as project needs evolve.
- Support the sales team with engineering solutions, customer quotation reviews, and engineering approvals, while building strong, lasting relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders through clear communication and aligned goals.
- Own financial performance across the order-to-revenue cycle, ensuring projects and services meet monthly revenue and margin forecasts, and manage the procurement process to deliver cost-effective, value-driven solutions for customers.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Engineering degree, ideally in Mechanical, Chemical, or Automation Engineering
- Proven track record in the application and configuration of control and SCADA systems, along with experience with heaters and related services
- Solid experience in project management, ideally within the Industrial and Process Automation field
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team
- Fluent Italian and very good English communication skills, both oral and written
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites across Italy ( and occasionally other European destinations )
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues at various levels within their organizations
- PMP or similar qualification would be an advantage

The minimum gross annual salary for this position is € 80 000.
The final compensation package will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills and qualifications. Eurotherm by Watlow applies the CCNL Metalmeccanici Industria.
