End-to-End Performance Engineer m/f Ref. E-to-E_Sat_2026
For the satellite business, OHB Italia is recruiting an End-to-End Performance Engineer with solid experience in space systems, missions, performance engineering, and Earth Observation payloads.
In this role, you will be responsible for the definition, assessment, and verification of end-to-end system and payload performance throughout the project lifecycle, from project start to CalVal. You will work closely with system, mission, satellite, ground, operations, and payload engineering teams to ensure that performance requirements are consistently achieved.
The successful candidate’s analytical capabilities, systems engineering mindset, and understanding of satellite and payload performance will be key to the successful development and operation of complex space systems.
Tasks to be performed
- Define, maintain, and consolidate end-to-end mission, system, and payload performance budgets.
- Develop and maintain performance models, simulations, and engineering tools supporting system design and verification activities.
- Assess the impact of mission and ConOps, architectural choices, design evolutions, and environmental conditions on system and payload performance.
- Perform performance analyses and trade studies to support engineering decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate performance engineering activities across the space, ground, and operational segments.
- Support the definition and allocation of performance requirements and performance margins.
- Define, coordinate, and support calibration and validation (Cal/Val) activities, including ground calibration, in-orbit commissioning, and operational validation campaigns.
- Support verification, validation, and qualification activities related to mission and system performance.
- Contribute to customer reviews, technical assessments, and performance reporting activities.
- Support proposal preparation, feasibility studies, and future mission developments when required.
Qualifications
Required
- University degree (Master’s degree or PhD) in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in performance engineering, mission analysis, or systems engineering within the space sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrooptical systems
- Good understanding of satellite systems, mission performance drivers, and end-to-end engineering processes.
- Experience in modelling, simulation, and performance assessment activities.
- Experience performing engineering trade-offs and quantitative analyses.
- Familiarity with verification and validation processes for space systems.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Good communication and technical reporting skills.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Assets
- Experience with Earth Observation missions and payload performance analysis.
- Experience with calibration and validation activities.
- Knowledge of optical, radar, or scientific payloads.
- Experience with system performance budgeting methodologies.
- Knowledge of ECSS engineering processes and standards.
- Experience with numerical analysis, simulation environments, and data processing tools.
- Experience supporting mission commissioning and in-orbit performance assessment.
