Job Purpose
Study, development and analytical investigation of the chemical synthetic processes and small scale manufacturing of Rare Disease APIs’
Key Responsibilities
Activities to be carried out in the synthesis and analytical laboratories under the supervision of the R&D Responsible
- He/she has to perform chemical reactions, purification of intermediates and final products, in order to study and develop new processes
- He/she has to be able to assemble laboratory equipment (e.g. reactors, thermocryostat, distillation apparatus, solvent evaporation equipment etc)
- He/she has to draft the lab notebook in order to document the experimental activities
- Under the supervision of a Senior Researcher, he/she has to perform by own the calculation of the needed amounts of reagents and reactants
- He/she has to handle the small scale production of Rare Disease APIs’ in the GMP Lab plant, for which he/she will get the appropriate training.
- He/she has to deal with the draft of the production batch records
- Together with the Senior Researcher, he/she takes part into the study and development of the best reaction conditions and the arrangement of the experimental trials plan.
- He/she has to manage analytical instrumentation as LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR in order to perform analytical investigation of the outcome of the chemical process, by even developing new analytical methods, and to interpret the results by own and to share with the supervisor the potential next actions to solve issues
- He/she is involved in following the whole outcome of the project both in terms of synthesis and analytical data.
Required Education
Degree in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry
PhD in Organic Chemistry is welcome
Required Skills and Experience
Sound knowledge of organic chemistry
Sound knowledge of the laboratory technologies
Good knowledge of the principles of the main analytical techniques for investigation
Sound knowledge of physical chemistry principles
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills
Strong inclination to team working
Required Languages
Good proficiency in English.
