Location: Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Linate Airport, Italy
Salary: €34,650 per year
Contract: Permanent

Overview
This role is ideal for experienced L1/L2 Desktop Support Engineers looking to apply their troubleshooting, hardware support, and customer-facing skills in a specialist airport technology environment.
You'll provide technical support for automated passenger processing systems (eGates), ensuring critical airport technology remains operational. While the equipment differs from that in traditional desktop environments, many of the core skills used in desktop support transfer directly to this role.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues affecting airport eGate systems.
-
Performing routine maintenance, updates, and system health checks.
-
Responding to incidents, troubleshooting faults, and carrying out break/fix activities.
-
Maintaining accurate records within a ticketing system.
Transferable Skills from L1/L2 Desktop Support
If you currently work in Desktop Support, Service Desk, Field Engineering, or End User Computing, you'll likely already have experience in:
-
Hardware diagnostics and component replacement.
-
Troubleshooting software and operating system issues.
-
Incident management and ticket handling.
-
Working to SLAs and prioritising technical incidents or escalating them appropriately.
-
Network troubleshooting fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, connectivity issues, routing, and switching concepts.
-
Maintaining detailed technical documentation and support records.
What will you bring to ESP?
-
At least 3 years' experience in a technical support, desktop support, field service, or hardware support role.
-
Basic understanding of electrical and electronic components.
-
Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, routing, switching, etc.).
-
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
-
Fluent English and Italian communication skills.
-
Technical qualification in IT, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Working Environment
-
Based primarily at Milan Malpensa Airport.
-
Small on-site engineering team (3 engineers).
-
Autonomous role with direct interaction with customer users.
-
Full training provided by the existing engineering team.
Additional Requirements
-
Eligibility to obtain a full airport airside pass.
-
Ability to provide a 5-year employment history for airport security clearance.
-
Access card/pass clearance required to work independently within the airport environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Desktop Support Engineer seeking a move into specialist infrastructure and operational technology support while continuing to utilise core troubleshooting, hardware, networking, customer support, and incident management skills developed within traditional IT support environments.
Benefits:
-
Meal tickets
-
Access to ESP Learning platform
-
Car and phone provided by the company
-
Amazon vouchers
-
13th and 14th salary
