IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a Junior Fellowship to join the Neuroimmunology unit. The project aims at dissecting the retromer complex in neurodegenerative disorders. Our research is focused to study mechanisms leading to motor neurons degeneration in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Retromer complex operates in neurons to stabilize/improve the homeostasis of the endolysosomal system. Therefore, increasing the stability of the retromer complex in pathological conditions featuring ALS increases motor neurons capacity to eliminate misfolding/aggregating protein that impinge on their functionality. In the project we plant the investigation of new molecular chaperones designed for retromer stabilization in animal and cellular models.
Main responsibilities:
working on animal models of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
working with iPSCs-derived Motor Neurons from ALS patients
The candidate we are looking for has the following skills:
Master Degree in Biology
mouse handling
tissue processing for (histo-) pathology
cell biology
What we offer:
Type of contract: Collaboration
Duration: 11 months
Place of work: IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, Via Olgettina, number 60 - Milan (Italy)
