Position Summary
IRBM is seeking experienced, highly motivated, and results-driven Business Development Directors to support growth across designated territories in the United States and the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).
The successful candidates will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating strategic relationships with key decision-makers, and expanding existing client accounts. These individuals will serve as a trusted liaisons between clients and IRBM, working closely with scientific and operational teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet client needs.
These are remote, field-based positions requiring a strong network within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and drug discovery sectors. Candidates should be comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute territory-specific business development strategies to achieve revenue and growth objectives.
Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and related life sciences organizations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Lead the sales process from initial engagement through proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution.
Achieve annual sales targets and key performance objectives within the assigned territory.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and act as a liaison between customers and IRBM’s scientific teams.
Develop a thorough understanding of IRBM’s scientific capabilities, platforms, and service offerings.
Collaborate with scientific and operational teams to prepare quotations, proposals, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
Manage customer inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate records of opportunities, activities, forecasts, and customer interactions within the CRM system.
Represent IRBM at scientific conferences, industry events, trade shows, and networking meetings.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to support strategic growth initiatives.

Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and development processes.

Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory, with occasional international travel as required.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of business development, sales, or commercial experience within the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CRO, or drug discovery sectors.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the life sciences industry.
Experience managing sales pipelines and achieving revenue targets.
Preferred
Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
Experience selling drug discovery services CRO services, or related scientific solutions.
Established network within pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
Strong knowledge of one or more therapeutic areas, including oncology and neurodegenerative diseases.
Familiarity with one or more therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, peptides, and antibody-based therapeutics.
Preferred locations include the Boston, San Francisco Bay Area, or San Diego biotechnology hubs in the United States, and major life sciences clusters within Germany.
