Position Title: Shift Supervisor
Reports To: Store Manager, Production Manager, or Assistant Manager

Position Summary
The Shift Supervisor is a frontline leader responsible for managing all operations during their assigned shift. This role acts as the bridge between team members and upper management, ensuring that production or service goals are met efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. The ideal candidate is a positive, energetic leader who excels at problem-solving and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Workflow Management
- Oversee the daily operations during your shift, ensuring that workflow, staffing, and resources are allocated efficiently to meet production or sales goals.
- Execute core operational procedures, including product projections, inventory monitoring, cost controls, and cash handling.
- Analyze the financial performance of your shift (e.g., Cost of Sales/Labor) and identify solutions to improve results.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and coach team members, assigning tasks and monitoring their performance throughout the shift.
- Lead by example by embodying company values and recognizing employees for exceptional performance.
- Support the training and onboarding of new workers, ensuring they understand procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Provide constructive feedback, address employee conflicts, and hold team members accountable for performance and conduct.
Customer Experience & Problem Solving
- Serve as the main point of contact for employees and customers, resolving complaints or issues that arise quickly and fairly.
- Ensure a positive and consistent customer experience, maximizing satisfaction through service and quality.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards (e.g., PPE usage, OSHA requirements).
- Conduct inspections to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, addressing any hazards or incidents.
- Complete required shift reports and handover notes, documenting incidents, production metrics, or operational observations for management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; a degree in management or a related field is often a plus.
- 1-3 years of previous experience in a supervisory, team lead, or customer service role.
- For manufacturing roles: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial or unionized environment is often preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more).
- Frequent walking, stooping, and bending.
- Lifting and carrying up to 25-50 lbs, depending on the industry.
- Clear vision and hearing to ensure safety and communicate effectively.
