We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy!
Vertiv is seeking a Sr. Mechanical CAD Design Engineer to be part of the Thermal Management mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) - Italy. He/She will be mainly focused on the floor mount/chiller products.
What kind of work will you be doing?
- Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high performance, cost effective design and market leading innovation.
- Coordinate the mechanical engineering group to ensure common output and defining standard and best practices.
- Work closely with CAD champions to ensure the implementation of new CAD tools and features.
- Align design work to foster a positive mindset and improve communication across the MCAD community.
- Design new products or re-engineer existing ones with a focus on mechanical aspects (primarily sheet metal and piping), collaborating with suppliers, Procurement, and Industrial Engineering, while considering necessary product marketing inputs.
- To create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
- To create, collect, maintain, and review item documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
- Work in a structured company using PLM system to create items and managing the revisions.
- To meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs.
- To analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility; improving, updating, reviewing the mechanical drawings according to the information from the Production, Procurement and Logistics departments, to simplify the assembly, reducing the costs and improving the quality.
- A high level of CAD expertise combined with strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel as needed between the Italian headquarters and other production facilities.
What will make you successful?
- Technical Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- At least 10 - 15 years of previous working experience on similar activities, ideally in the Chiller or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) sectors;
- Good knowledge of light/medium structural work processing and corrosion protection techniques are mandatory;
- Knowledge of thermodynamics aspects is desirable but not essential;
- Excellent knowledge of 3D/2D CAD & PLM systems, Microsoft Office tools, particularly PTC Creo. Knowledge of the management computer systems ;
- Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures of basic detailed lists;
- Knowledge of technical drawings;
- Good knowledge of Bill of Materials structures, and configuration logics;
- Capacity of taking decisions as for solving problems;
- English – Intermediate level – Written and spoken;
- Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible.
