Core Responsibilities
- Providing Technical Support: This is the primary duty. You'll be the first point of contact for employees or clients experiencing IT issues, providing support via phone, email, chat, or in-person . This involves troubleshooting hardware (like desktops, laptops, and printers), software, and network connectivity problems .
- System Setup and Maintenance: You'll be responsible for the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and equipment . This includes installing and updating software, deploying security patches, and performing routine system checks to ensure everything is running optimally .
- Managing User Accounts: A key part of the job is managing user access, which includes setting up new user accounts, handling password resets, and managing permissions, often through tools like Active Directory or Azure AD .
- Documenting and Escalating Issues: You'll be expected to meticulously document every support request, the steps taken to resolve it, and the final outcome using a ticketing system . When a problem is too complex to solve, you'll escalate it to senior engineers or vendors .
