A Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying and connecting with potential customers to generate new business opportunities. The BDR serves as the first point of contact with prospective clients, qualifies leads, and schedules meetings or product demonstrations for the sales team. This role is essential to growing the company's customer base and sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential customers through online research, databases, social media, and referrals.
- Contact prospects via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other communication channels.
- Qualify leads by understanding their business needs, budget, and decision-making process.
- Schedule appointments, product demonstrations, or sales meetings for Account Executives or Sales Managers.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions in a CRM system.
- Follow up with prospects to nurture relationships and move them through the sales funnel.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to improve lead generation strategies.
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly outreach and lead generation targets.
- Stay informed about company products, services, competitors, and industry trends.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, telemarketing, or business development is an advantage but not always required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Comfortable making outbound calls and handling objections.
- Familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zoho is a plus.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and resilient.
