The opportunity
The High Voltage Products Business Unit is part of Hitachi Energy’s global Technology organization, responsible for the development, optimization, and lifecycle management of products such as Metal-Enclosed Circuit Breakers, Hybrid Switchgear, and Instrument Transformers.
As R&D Engineer, you will join the Technology Center Italy, based in Lodi, and report to the R&D Team Manager. In this role, you will focus on supporting High Voltage Switchgear (GIS, AIS, Hybrid) across the product lifecycle, ensuring product data integrity, continuous improvement, and effective technical support to global stakeholders.
How you'll make an impact
- Ensure product data quality and consistency across PLM systems throughout the product lifecycle
- Manage and implement engineering changes to improve product quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback from production and field performance
- Provide technical support to Operations, Service, Sales, and R&D across the global organization
- Contribute to design reviews , bringing structured feedback from factories and customer sites
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to support design validation and product improvements
- Support the resolution of product issues , ensuring timely and effective corrective actions
- Maintain and update technical documentation and product configurations in all relevant systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build a strong global network
Your background
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar)
- Experience with CAD tools (preferably PTC Creo) and PLM systems (preferably Windchill)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and proactive approach
- Ability to work in cross-functional and international environments
- Experience in the electro-mechanical or power industry is a plus
- Knowledge of engineering calculations and simulation tools (e.g., FEM, multiphysics) is a plus
- Fluency in English; Italian is a strong plus

The minimum salary for this position in the location specified is as follows:
Starting from: 38000 € gross
The final offer will be based on candidate location, skills and qualifications, experience, and aligned with internal pay structures.
