About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic, charismatic, and knowledgeable Tour Guides to lead unforgettable experiences throughout Rome across three specialist tour categories:
- History Tours
- Mythology Tours
- Food & Wine Tours
We're not looking for guides who simply recite facts but we're looking for exceptional storytellers who can bring Rome to life through engaging narratives, fascinating insights, and memorable guest experiences.
Whether you're explaining the rise of the Roman Empire, uncovering the myths behind Rome's monuments, or introducing guests to the city's incredible culinary traditions, your passion and personality should leave visitors inspired.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging walking tours throughout Rome.
- Deliver informative and entertaining commentary tailored to your specialist tour(s).
- Create memorable experiences through storytelling, interaction, and audience engagement.
- Connect Rome's history, mythology, culture, food, and wine to the city's landmarks and neighbourhoods.
- Answer guest questions confidently and professionally.
- Maintain excellent guest satisfaction and consistently receive positive reviews.
- Manage groups safely, professionally, and efficiently.
- Stay up to date with historical research, cultural developments, and local recommendations relevant to your tours.
History Tour Guide – Ideal Candidate
- Passion for Roman history and archaeology.
- Strong knowledge of Ancient Rome, the Renaissance, and key historical periods.
- Ability to explain historical events in an engaging and accessible way.
- Experience guiding tours, teaching, public speaking, or storytelling.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Mythology Tour Guide – Ideal Candidate
- Passion for Roman and Greek mythology.
- Ability to bring myths, legends, gods, heroes, and symbolism to life through storytelling.
- Strong public speaking and performance skills.
- Experience in guiding, teaching, acting, storytelling, or performing arts is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Rome's mythology, history, and major archaeological sites.
Food & Wine Tour Guide – Ideal Candidate
- Passion for Italian cuisine, wine, and Roman food culture.
- Strong knowledge of local specialties, regional ingredients, wine, and culinary traditions.
- Ability to explain the stories behind Rome's markets, restaurants, neighbourhoods, and family recipes.
- Experience leading food tours, working in hospitality, wine, restaurants, or culinary education is an advantage.
- Warm, outgoing personality with excellent hosting skills.
General Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage diverse international audiences.
- Friendly, energetic, and confident personality.
- Fluent English required.
- Additional language skills are highly desirable.
- Licensed tour guide qualification (where required) is preferred.
- Previous guiding or customer-facing experience is an advantage.
