As part of our Infrastructure team, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of global projects delivering complex bridge design within a truly multidisciplinary team to meet project requirements and produce innovative and sustainable solutions.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented Bridge Engineer to join our fast‑growing Bridge and Civil Structures team in our Milan office.
You will contribute to both local and international projects, from the design of major crossings to the conception of iconic footbridges. The wide variety of project work, combined with internal research opportunities, provides an excellent environment to further develop technical skills and to support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
As a Bridge Engineer at Arup, you will:
Take ownership of design packages
Working directly with clients and other professionals with minor supervision
Co-ordinating work with engineers of other disciplines
Producing project related correspondence and reports
Providing design calculations and supporting preparation and review of deliverables
Does this role inspire you?
We're looking for a Bridge Engineer who is passionate about challenging design problems and with an interest in innovation and optimisation. We also value:
Master's degree in Structural Engineering ("Theory and Design of Bridges" module or a Bridges-focused Master's thesis being a plus)
2+ years of proven experience in design and assessment of bridge structures (steel, prestressed concrete, steel-concrete composite)
A strong interest and aptitude for new technologies, automation, and digitalization in structural engineering
Knowledge of SOFiSTiK and Rhino Grasshopper
A collaborative mindset with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary project teams
Advanced level of English and at least communicative level of Italian
