Job Description
As an experienced Senior Level Artist / Environment Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, production-ready levels and environments that support the visual identity, gameplay readability, and world-building of Bradley the Badger. You will help shape memorable spaces that feel alive, cohesive, and engaging, balancing artistic quality with gameplay needs and real-time performance constraints.
You will collaborate closely with the Art Director, level designers, environment artists, concept artists, technical artists, and programmers to transform blockouts and design intentions into polished, in-game locations. Your work will combine strong composition, environmental storytelling, lighting awareness, and technical execution to ensure each level supports exploration, combat, traversal, and narrative goals within a systems-driven action-adventure experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, production-ready levels and environments from blockout through final in-game implementation.
- Transform level design layouts into visually compelling, readable, and gameplay-supportive spaces.
- Build and dress environments using modular kits, props, terrain, foliage, materials, and lighting in Unreal Engine.
- Collaborate closely with level designers to ensure environments support gameplay flow, traversal, combat readability, and narrative intentions.
- Work with the Art Director and art team to maintain a consistent visual style across all levels and locations.
- Develop strong compositions, landmarks, silhouettes, and environmental storytelling moments that guide the player naturally through the world.
- Create or adapt environment assets, textures, and materials using industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
- Optimize levels and assets for real-time performance while maintaining strong visual quality.
- Contribute to and help refine the level art pipeline, documentation, and best practices.
- Provide feedback and mentorship to junior artists when needed.
- Work with directors and production teams to estimate, prioritize, and deliver tasks on schedule.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Level Artist, Environment Artist, or similar role in the gaming industry, preferably on stylized, action-adventure, or third-person titles.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality level art, environment composition, world-building, and gameplay-aware spaces.
- Expert proficiency with Unreal Engine, including level dressing, asset integration, materials, lighting, and optimization workflows.
- Strong understanding of composition, scale, player guidance, environmental storytelling, lighting, color, and visual hierarchy.
- Experience working from level design blockouts and improving spaces while preserving gameplay intentions.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing tools such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
- Solid understanding of modular environment workflows, asset reuse, trim sheets, materials, terrain, foliage, and prop dressing.
- Strong awareness of real-time performance constraints and optimization techniques for levels and environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with art, design, and technical teams in an iterative production environment.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fully remote environment.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Italian is preferred.
