THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group. The team is composed by physicists, chemists, biotechnologists, and engineers collaborating in a very multi-disciplinary group that aims to develop a new generation of single molecule sensor for real diagnostic applications.
The Plasmon Nanotechnology Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Francesco De Angelis, who has extensive experience in the development of new photonic and optoelectrical technologies single molecule sensing. You will share with the team the responsibility of developing of new generation of single-molecule sensing platforms for diagnostic applications, targeting personalized DNA and protein sequencing. The approach integrates Structured Light, Raman spectroscopy with plasmonic enhancement and solid-state nanopores to achieve label-free, flow-through detection and molecular identification at the single-molecule level.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in nanotechnologies, physics, chemistry, engineering or related disciplines
- Documented experience in Nano-optics and Spectroscopies in the visible range with a focus on ultrafast Raman spectroscopy and Plasmonics
- The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
- A strong publication record
- Good command in spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of modelling software (like COMSOL or ANSYS)
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- A yearly gross salary ranging between 34,000 and 40,000 Euro
- Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
- Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
