In the frame of the growth and sustainability roadmap of Fluorinated Polymers, Syensqo Specialty Polymer Italy is looking for a high potential chemical engineer with a good knowledge of physical phenomena, computational skills and the ability to combine the excellence of the technical content of their work with efficient time management and communication skills.
The mission of the role will be to develop, design or optimize processes related to existing or new products in the Specialty Polymer portfolio.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Process Engineer is responsible for leading site-based Process Engineering projects and activities that drive continuous improvement, sustainability, new products industrialization and capacity expansions.
The main responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
- Contribute to improve the performances of existing installations, also participating in capacity optimization and waste reduction projects.
- Lead new product industrialization and scale-up projects from our Research & Innovation team including handoff and training to the operations team.
- Lead new equipment and processes start-up. Provide process expertise for equipment design and act as a key contributor to capital project execution
- Support operations to resolve recurring process problems and provide robust process solutions.
- Promote an observable culture of process safety and quality within their organizational control.
Education and Experience
- Master Degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
- Previous professional experience in process design and development is a plus.
- 0-5 years of working experience
Skills
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task
- Expertise in process simulations and calculations on unit operations to prepare technical documentation, including heat and material balances, P&ID, equipment and instrument specifications
- Strong attention to details
- Understand key operational metrics and communicate across organization to achieve clear alignment and focus.
- Understanding processes to engage cross-functional teams to solve quality and process capability problems.
- Good communication and presentation skills (oral and written) General comfort level with IT applications
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Knowledge of radical polymerization and fluorine organic chemistry is a plus

Flexibility to travel to other locations as required by the projects.

The Italian annual base salary reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is between € 40000 to € 55000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualification and internal equity and can ultimately be more or less than the posted salary range.
