Space Industries S.p.A. operates in the space sector and is engaged in the development, integration and testing of satellite systems. To strengthen our Testing area, we are looking for a candidate to join us through an extracurricular internship, with the aim of providing a hands-on training experience in a highly technical and innovative environment.
Internship objective
The selected candidate will support the Integration & Test team in electrical integration, functional verification and validation activities at subsystem and satellite level. The internship will provide a basic understanding of AIT/AIV processes and of the main verification and validation methodologies applied to space systems.
Main training activities
Support the development, update and release of electrical integration and functional test procedures at subsystem and satellite level.
Participate in the installation, configuration and verification of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) in test areas.
Support hardware preparation activities, including test item set-up, electrical interface verification and laboratory instrumentation configuration.
Support the execution of functional tests at platform and satellite level, in accordance with defined operating procedures and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate in functional validation activities during environmental test campaigns, including TVAC, vibration and shock testing.
Support data acquisition, preliminary analysis and comparison of test results against expected values, under the supervision of the responsible Test Engineer.
Collaborate with the Engineering and AIT/AIV teams in defining and updating verification, qualification and validation procedures.
Support the preparation, review and update of technical documentation related to integration and test campaigns.
Contribute to the accurate and organised management of test data and project documentation.
Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, obtained no more than 12 months before the internship start date, in Aerospace Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Strong interest in the space sector and in the integration, verification and testing of complex systems.
Basic knowledge of electronics, data acquisition systems and laboratory instrumentation.
Good ability to read and understand technical documentation.
Good written and spoken English.
Accuracy, a methodical approach, analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Preferred qualifications
Academic or practical knowledge of Assembly, Integration and Test/Verification (AIT/AIV) processes.
Familiarity with EGSE, measurement instruments, functional testing or laboratory activities.
Basic knowledge of ECSS standards and of the main environmental tests applied to space systems.
University, laboratory or project experience involving embedded systems, electronics, satellites or complex platforms.
Skills to be developed
Knowledge of AIT/AIV processes in the space sector.
Preparation and execution of functional and environmental tests on subsystems and satellites.
Use of the main EGSE equipment and laboratory instrumentation.
Collection, management and preliminary analysis of test data.
