A Cafe Supervisor is the operational backbone of a café, ensuring smooth daily operations while leading and motivating the front-of-house team. This role combines hands-on work with management responsibilities, focusing on service excellence, team leadership, and operational efficiency .
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Oversee daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring seamless service delivery .
- Manage inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and conduct stock rotation to minimize waste .
- Perform cash handling duties, including daily till reconciliation and bank deposits .
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards at all times .
- Coordinate with the kitchen team on menu options and food preparation .
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and supervise café staff, delegating tasks and setting clear performance expectations .
- Assist in recruiting, training, and developing team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback .
- Create staff schedules and manage shift rotations to maintain optimal coverage .
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment where staff feel supported .
Customer Service Excellence
- Deliver exceptional guest service and set the standard for the team .
- Proactively handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner .
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and ensure guest satisfaction throughout their visit .
Key Qualifications
Experience and Education
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a café, restaurant, or food and beverage environment is typically required .
- Relevant experience in food preparation or service is essential; a diploma in hospitality or related field is often an asset .
