Your impact
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Estimating Engineer to join our team in Milan, Italy, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager.
This role is ideal for a junior-level estimator eager to contribute to large-scale industrial projects, including pharmaceutical and building developments delivered through an EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) approach.
As part of the Estimating team, you will support the delivery of cost estimating services across a diverse portfolio of projects within our business units.
As a Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and performing detailed cost analyses for construction and manufacturing projects within the pharmaceutical, environmental, and industrial building sectors.
Key responsibilities include:
Promote and enforce the implementation of standardized operating procedures for estimating activities
Standardize the estimating delivery of the projects, tools, templates, filing structures in accordance with company procedures
Have a good working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square meters costs and total direct and investment project costs
Participate in design progress meetings and client presentations as required
Support the estimate development together with project team and the Estimating Manager with reporting functions and assembly of estimate deliverables
Develop and implement estimate plans for projects
Review priced material take off drafted by the process and engineering project leaders working closely with the Estimating Manager and Project Engineer
Prepare estimates in accordance with Jacobs, client, and AACE International estimating standards and procedures
Contribute to estimate risk assessments, contingency development, and Monte Carlo simulations using @RISK software
Assist with the presentation and review of estimates to project teams, management, and clients
Maintain and update cost benchmark databases, ensuring lessons learned and historical project data are captured and applied
Help ensure estimating processes meet project, business, and client requirements
Support continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and digital solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Assist project teams during design and procurement phases by monitoring cost changes and supporting change management activities
Stay informed of industry cost trends, estimating methodologies, market conditions, and emerging technologies, including AI applications in cost
Here's what you'll need
Fluency in English and Italian
More than 3 years of experience in Estimating, Project engineering, construction management or quantity surveying experience within the Life Science/Chemical Construction Industry required. Experience on a project construction site is a plus
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, management, and clients, and to proactively identify and escalate potential issues when required
A collaborative and positive team player with a strong work ethic, demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and effective time management
Able to work independently while following established procedures, processes, and guidelines
Demonstrates respect, professionalism, and inclusivity when working with colleagues and stakeholders
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing priorities with minimal supervision

33,400.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
41,700.00
The offer range for this position is €33,400.00 to €41,700.00 gross per year (or hourly equivalent if hired into hourly role). The final salary within this range will be determined based on objective, gender neutral and job-related criteria, such as relevant professional experience, skills, qualifications, the scope of responsibilities and the contracted working hours/work schedule.
