For the opening of the new exclusive Akira Back restaurant, The St. Regis Rome is casting for an Host/Hostess.
The ideal candidate is able to provide an outstanding customer service to our international guests whilst delivering service to the highest standard, presents a positive first impression of the establishment's friendliness, excellent service and high standards.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Specialty Restaurant Manager, the role will be part of the AB Restaurant team, proud to engage our guests and to create exquisite moments.
A Host/Hostess greets guests upon arrival, informs Guests of their wait time, monitors a waiting list, enters Guest names into the computer system, shows Guests to their table and bid Guests farewell as they leave.
A Host/Hostess must be able to carry natural conversation with Guests without sounding scripted or intrusive. Additionally, the role cares for our Guests by refilling beverages and performs light housekeeping duties such as cleaning glasses and menus and ensures restrooms are clean, stocked and orderly. As a member of an energetic team, the role may also need to answer the phones and fill to-go orders when needed.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
- Welcome guests and act as an ambassador of the AB brand, delivering a warm, gracious and personalized arrival experience.
- Greet arriving and departing guests with professionalism and genuine hospitality, escorting them to their table and presenting them their chef de rang, using the names.
- Manage restaurant reservations and seating arrangements, ensuring optimal table allocation and guest flow.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and reservation inquiries professionally and efficiently, using the reservation platform.
- Inform Guest of current promotion and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff
- Manage the flow of guests into the restaurant, providing accurate wait times and maintaining clear communication when required.
- Anticipate and respond to guest’s needs, preferences and special requests in a timely and courteous manner.
- Maintain a visible presence at the hostess desk area and ensure guests are acknowledged and welcomed promptly.
- Build rapport with guests, recognizing returning guests and creating memorable first and last impressions.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization and presentation of the hostess desk.
- Receive payments by using credit card machine.
- Assist with administrative duties related to reservations, guest preferences and restaurant communications.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and brand identity guidelines.
- Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies.
- Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Record transactions accurately using the MICROS system.
- Possess a good command of English and Italian.
- Exceptional storytelling and guest engagement skills.
- An excellent verbal manner and proven customer service skills.
- Strong guest service skills and the ability to create memorable first impressions.
Good knowledge or experience in the hospitality industry, Asian, Japanese or fusion dining concept preferred.
