Job Title: IT Support Specialist

Position Summary
We are looking for a knowledgeable and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our technology team. In this role, you will be the first line of defense for technical issues, ensuring that our employees (or clients) have the hardware, software, and connectivity they need to perform at their best. You will troubleshoot complex problems, manage user accounts, and maintain our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal staff (helpdesk) regarding hardware, software, and network issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to Windows, macOS, and/or Linux operating systems.
- Provide support for common business applications (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, etc.).
- Troubleshoot printer, peripheral, and mobile device issues.
Hardware & Software Management:
- Set up, configure, and deploy new workstations, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Manage hardware inventory and asset lifecycles (procurement, deployment, retirement).
- Install, update, and patch software applications to ensure security and compliance.
Network & Systems Administration:
- Assist with basic network administration (Wi-Fi, VPN, firewall, and switch troubleshooting).
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory / Azure AD / Okta.
- Monitor system performance and perform routine maintenance tasks (server reboots, backups).
Security & Compliance:
- Enforce IT security policies (password management, MFA, data encryption).
- Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes to ensure secure access management.
- Report security incidents and vulnerabilities to the senior IT team.
Documentation & Training:
- Create and update knowledge-base articles, FAQs, and IT documentation.
- Train new employees on IT best practices and standard tools.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: [1–3 years] of experience in a technical support or helpdesk role.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure, or Google Admin Console.
- Knowledge of networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Zendesk, ServiceNow).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Customer-service oriented with patience and empathy.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple open tickets simultaneously.
Preferred/Nice-to-Have:
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365 Certified, or ITIL Foundation.
- Experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with MDM solutions (Jamf, Intune).
