About the Team
This role sits within the Global Communications team and partners closely with TikTok Shop Operations, Business and Product teams in Germany, as well as Legal and Policy partners. The team is responsible for building clear narratives, supporting market expansion, and helping the business communicate with confidence as TikTok Shop grows in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
This is a market-facing communications role with a defined country scope. The person in role will own day-to-day communications work for Germany, Austria + NL, advise partners on messaging and external issues, and help shape how TikTok Shop is understood by media, sellers, creators and buyers.
What you'll do
- Own communications support for TikTok Shop in Germany, Austia + NL across a defined set of market priorities, and serve as a day-to-day communications partner for operations and business teams.
- Develop clear, audience-specific narratives and messaging for the three markets that support business priorities and reflect market context.
- Manage communications projects from planning through execution, including product moments, partnership announcements, seasonal campaigns and issue response.
- Build and maintain relationships with national, business and trade media; handle routine inbound requests independently and support proactive media engagement.
- Work with DACH + NL market communications leads on media strategy, inquiries and reputational issues, escalating where needed and contributing to a coordinated market response.
- Review German-language external materials, including seller communications, presentations, promotional messaging and operational updates, for clarity, consistency and reputational risk.
- Track media sentiment, market trends and developing public narratives relevant to e-commerce, and translate those signals into practical guidance for internal teams.
- Prepare spokespeople and subject-matter experts for interviews, briefings and events, with clear messaging and strong on-the-ground support.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Product, Creator Partnerships, Policy and Legal to keep messaging aligned and ensure communications risks and opportunities are surfaced early.
- Contribute to issue management for routine reputational matters in DACH + NL, using sound judgment, clear escalation and steady execution.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Fluent in German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, corporate affairs, PR, media relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the German media landscape, including experience managing press relationships and inbound media requests.
- Proven ability to write high-quality messaging and materials for different audiences with limited guidance.
- Experience supporting spokespeople, media interviews, and external events.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience owning defined projects end-to-end, with strong attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
- Good judgment on routine reputational issues, with the ability to identify emerging risks or shifts in public sentiment.
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, technology, social media, or other fast-moving consumer-facing sectors.
Ability to operate confidently in ambiguity, manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
