About the Role
We are building the operating system for autonomous intelligence.
For the next 9 months, our execution focus is Digital Automation. We are building the Verkko Platform: a sovereign, edge-first infrastructure that allows organizations to deploy autonomous agents that handle complex, multi-step digital tasks without human intervention. We are not building LLM wrappers or chatbots. We are integrating our proprietary Voltaic spiking intelligence engine into a robust digital execution layer.
This role is about building the digital nervous system of Verkko. You will ensure the Voltaic engine is seamlessly integrated into our API, workflow orchestration, and data pipelines, enabling efficient, low-cost, and persistent digital automation.
Key Responsibilities (Next 9 Months: Digital Focus)
1. Digital Automation & Orchestration (Primary)
· Workflow Engine: Develop and optimize the orchestration layer that translates high-level goals into executable digital tasks (API calls, data processing, content generation, internal tool usage).
· Integration Layer: Build robust connectors to enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, Communication tools). The intelligence (Voltaic) makes decisions; your code executes them reliably.
· State Management: Implement the stateful memory interface for digital agents. Ensure the agent’s "Living Memory" (HSC v2) is correctly updated and retrieved during multi-step digital workflows.
· Reliability & Safety: Build guardrails and verification loops that ensure digital automations are accurate. We rely on high-quality rationales and automated verification, not "Human-in-the-Loop" for basic checks.
2. Voltaic Engine Integration (Secondary)
· Inference Pipeline: Manage the deployment of the Voltaic spiking model for digital tasks. Optimize for latency and cost, ensuring the model runs efficiently on our cloud/edge hybrid infrastructure.
· Continuous Learning Loop: Implement feedback mechanisms that allow the digital agent to learn from successful and failed automated tasks. This is where the "non-forgetting" architecture shines in a digital context.
· Drift Monitoring: Monitor the accuracy of the agent’s decisions over time. Ensure ContextFlow retrieval remains relevant as the digital environment changes.
The Trajectory: Beyond 9 Months (Physical AI)
This is critical for the right candidate.
While the next 9 months are focused on proving the model in the digital realm, Verkko’s long-term trajectory is Physical AI and Robotics. The digital platform you are building now is the core engine that will eventually be deployed into physical robotic bodies.
Why your current work matters for the future:
· Orchestration is Universal: The logic you build to orchestrate digital tasks (APIs, data flows) is the same logic required to orchestrate physical actions (servo control, sensor input, motor output).
· Persistent Memory is Critical: In digital automation, memory allows an agent to remember past workflows. In robotics, it allows a machine to remember physical environments, obstacles, and operational constraints without resetting.
· Edge-First Efficiency: We are optimizing Voltaic for low latency and low power now because these are non-negotiable constraints for battery-powered robots later.
By joining now, you are not just building a digital tool. You are building the brain that will eventually live in factories, fields, and vehicles. The skills you develop in orchestration, memory management, and efficient inference during this digital phase will directly translate to the physical layer in 12–18 months.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
· Strong Backend Engineering: Expert-level proficiency in Python or Go. You must be comfortable building high-throughput, reliable backend services.
· API & Integration Experience: Proven experience building and consuming complex APIs, handling webhooks, and integrating with third-party SaaS platforms.
· Understanding of Agent Systems: Experience with AI models in a production environment. You must understand that context, memory, and state are more important than raw token generation.
· Systems Thinking: You understand that "AI" is just the brain. The value is in the execution layer. You care about idempotency, error handling, and state consistency.
Nice-to-Haves:
· Edge/Embedded Experience: Familiarity with deploying models on constrained hardware (ARM, NVIDIA Jetson). This is a strong plus for the long-term robotics trajectory, even if not strictly required for the digital phase.
· Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs): Familiarity with SNN frameworks or spiking dynamics.
· Vector Databases/Knowledge Graphs: Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) at an architectural level.
What We Are NOT Looking For
· LLM Wrappers: If your experience is purely in building chat interfaces or simple RAG pipelines, this is not the role.
· Cloud-Only LLM Optimizers: We are not tuning prompts for a GPT-4 wrapper. We are building a sovereign inference engine with its own memory architecture.
· Pure Frontend Developers: This is a core infrastructure role.
