Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources reports directly to the General Manager and maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship with the Regional Senior Director of Human Resources. The position is also a key member of the hotel's Executive Committee.
As a member of the HR organization, the Director of Human Resources provides both strategic and operational leadership across all areas of Human Resources. This role is responsible for talent acquisition and development, succession planning, workforce planning, performance management, and associate career growth.
The successful candidate will effectively leverage technology and HR systems, foster the development of leaders and teams through coaching and development initiatives, and drive the execution of business objectives with maximum efficiency. Operating with a high degree of independence, the Director will design and implement processes, programs, and initiatives aligned with the strategic priorities of the hotel, the EDITION brand, and Marriott International.
The role is also responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive HR Plan aligned with property and brand strategies, ensuring that people-related processes and services effectively support business performance and organizational success.
Candidate Profile Education and Experience Option 1
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Human Resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
OR Option 2
- Master's degree or four-year university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
Key Responsibilities Human Resources Strategy and Leadership
- Implement and monitor action plans resulting from Associate Engagement Surveys.
- Build and strengthen talent pipelines that support the property's and region's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.
- Translate business priorities into HR strategies, action plans, and people initiatives for the hotel.
- Implement and sustain Marriott HR programs and initiatives throughout the property.
- Facilitate Human Capital Review processes and lead succession planning activities at both property and market level.
- Assess leadership pipelines through the Human Capital Review process and oversee the execution of resulting development actions.
- Drive business value through proactive initiatives aimed at improving performance and optimizing labor-related costs.
- Monitor and promote effective utilization of the myHR platform by managers and associates.
- Lead and participate in workforce planning and succession management activities.
- Define, execute, and continuously refine the property's HR strategy.
- Act as a change champion for initiatives with significant organizational impact.
- Participate in ownership meetings as a member of the Executive Committee, presenting HR performance indicators—including turnover, critical vacancies, associate satisfaction results, learning initiatives, and business impact outcomes—while demonstrating a strong understanding of ownership priorities.
- Lead and develop the hotel's HR team and, where applicable, shared market HR resources.
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment
- Analyze staffing requirements by balancing operational needs with internal talent development opportunities.
- Support leaders and department heads throughout the recruitment process, acting as a coach and subject matter expert in interviewing and candidate assessment.
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness and workforce optimization.
- Make strategic talent decisions regarding hiring, placement, and career development.
- Partner with Hiring Managers to define recruitment strategies, including sourcing approaches, compensation positioning, and benefit offerings.
- Monitor sourcing channels and evaluate overall recruitment effectiveness.
- Ensure managers possess the skills and capabilities required to assess and select hourly and operational associates.
Compensation and Rewards
- Maintain a strong understanding of labor market trends as well as internal and external compensation practices.
- Lead the Total Compensation planning process for hourly and operational associates.
- Promote understanding and effective implementation of compensation programs, processes, and tools.
- Participate in quarterly internal pay equity reviews, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions where required.
- Develop and implement recognition, reward, and incentive programs aligned with property objectives and business priorities.
Associate Development and Employee Relations
- Ensure the property's HR team effectively fulfills the responsibilities associated with each role.
- Maintain appropriate training and capability development for HR professionals across all people-management disciplines.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations and labor relations matters.
- Foster and strengthen a positive associate relations culture across the organization.
Compensation and Benefits
- Gross Annual Salary: min 65,000.00 - 72,000.00 € (the gross annual salary is calculated on a pro-rata basis when employment covers only part of the year).
- Housing
- Bonus Marriott International
- The 13th and 14th month payments are included in the gross annual salary and are accrued on a pro-rata basis, depending on the actual period worked during the year.
- TFR (severance) is an additional amount on top of the salary, which is set aside during employment and paid to the employee at the end of the contract
- Ticket restaurants – meal vouchers (each with a net value of €8 per working day)
