Job Description: Managing Director (MD)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Board of Directors

Position Summary
The Managing Director (MD) is the most senior executive responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational performance, and profitability of the organization (or a specific division/business unit). The MD acts as a key link between the Board of Directors and the day-to-day management team.
This role requires a visionary leader who can drive revenue growth, ensure operational excellence, and foster a high-performance culture. The MD is the face of the company to external stakeholders, including investors, major clients, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan in alignment with the Board's vision.
- Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and emerging trends to ensure the company remains competitive.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, setting financial targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Make high-stakes investment decisions regarding acquisitions, divestitures, and capital allocation.
2. Operational Management
- Oversee all day-to-day operations across all departments (Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, R&D, and Production).
- Implement robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Monitor organizational performance against goals, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet targets.
- Ensure the company adheres to all legal, regulatory, and compliance standards.
3. Financial Performance & Profitability
- Drive revenue growth and maximize shareholder value.
- Present regular financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments to the Board of Directors.
- Manage the P&L (Profit & Loss) responsibility for the entire organization, maintaining strict cost control.
4. Team Leadership & Culture
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier executive talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the company, maintaining high employee morale and public reputation.
5. Stakeholder Relations
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, investors, bankers, and industry influencers.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, public events, and government meetings.
- Negotiate high-level contracts and strategic alliances.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Preferred: MBA or advanced degree (JD, PhD) from a top-tier institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5+ years in a C-Suite or Senior Executive role (e.g., VP, SVP, COO, or Division Head).
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing a P&L of [$X Million/Billion].
- Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and managing board relations.
