This role offers the opportunity to manage a portfolio of technology development programs that support the company's long-term growth strategy and technological leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing R&T programs from inception through completion, ensuring technical, financial, and schedule objectives are achieved across multiple technical disciplines.
Working within a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, the R&T Program Manager will collaborate with Technology Leaders, engineers, researchers, universities, research institutes, and business stakeholders to drive innovation and accelerate technology maturation.
This position is ideal for an individual who combines strong program management skills with a passion for emerging technologies, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement.
As motivated Lead Research & Technology Program Manager, you will responsible for:
Program Execution & Governance
Managing a portfolio of Research & Technology programs, ensuring delivery of agreed objectives, milestones, and outcomes on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Executing program management activities in accordance with established R&T processes, methodologies, and governance frameworks.
Developing and maintain program plans, monitor progress, manage risks and opportunities, and resolve issues affecting program delivery.
Coordinating and facilitate technical reviews, gate reviews, and governance meetings throughout the program lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Supporting the continuous improvement of program management processes, tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Contributing to initiatives that promote innovation, technology development, ideation, and organizational learning.
Fostering a collaborative environment that encourages experimentation and knowledge sharing.
External Partnerships & Collaboration
Coordinating activities with universities, research institutions, start-ups, technology providers, and other external partners.
Supporting procurement and contracting activities from initiation through completion.
Building and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program objectives.
Portfolio Management & Strategy
Collaborating with Portfolio Leaders, Technology Leaders, and Business Development teams to manage program deviations related to scope, budget, schedule, and risk.
Conducting portfolio analyses to support prioritization, resource allocation, and decision-making.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Research & Technology Roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technology strategies.
Supporting technology strategy development and long-term innovation planning.
Financial Planning, Reporting & Resource Management
Managing program budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Supporting resource planning and allocation to ensure effective utilization of technical expertise and organizational capabilities.
Maintaining program documentation, records, and performance data within designated digital management platforms.
Developing and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and portfolio reporting to provide visibility into program and portfolio performance.
Supporting Business Portfolio Reviews and present program status, achievements, risks, and performance metrics to senior leadership.
Executing operational tasks related to the portfolio and to R&T resource management.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Master's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related scientific or technical discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in technical or engineering environments, including at least 5 years of project or program management experience.
Proven ability to independently drive initiatives and deliver results.
Strong knowledge of program management methodologies and tools, including Microsoft Project, Primavera, and SharePoint.
Experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, and cross-functional program activities.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and influencing skills.
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical and portfolio information effectively to senior leadership.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, global, and culturally diverse environment.
Passion for innovation, emerging technologies, and continuous learning.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Desired skills:
Technical experience within industrial, energy, process, or turbomachinery sectors, particularly in:
Gas and steam turbines;
Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors;
Energy transition and decarbonization technologies, including CCUS, hydrogen, low-carbon fuels, process electrification, and emissions reduction solutions.
Experience in technology development, advanced engineering, product innovation, performance improvement, or industrial deployment of relevant technologies.
PhD in a scientific or technical discipline.
PMP, IPMA, or equivalent project management certification.
Experience supporting technology roadmaps, innovation portfolios, and collaborative research programs involving universities, research institutions, start-ups, and industrial partners.
Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps).
Familiarity with Aha!.

Italy: The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 51,200 To 70,400
The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay
