THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where chemists, engineers and materials scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Applied Energy Materials and Technologies Research unit is coordinated by Isabella Poli, who has extensive experience in applied energy materials and characterization. The research group focuses on the development of novel functional materials and technologies for photo(electro)catalytic applications in water treatment and solar fuels generation.
The assignment is based on IIT's need to implement research and experimentation activities related to photocatalytic systems within the Fondo Italiano per la Scienza (FIS) - MUR funded "pEroVskitEs foR photocataLYtic systems" (EVERLY) project. This project aims to develop efficient, stable and scalable photocatalysts for the generation of solar fuels.
Within the research team your main responsibilities will be:
- characterize perovskite and pseudo perovskite materials for the generation of solar fuels (CO2 reduction and H2 evolution).
- carry out advanced spectroscopy characterization of single crystals and thin films of photoactive materials.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in physics, physical chemistry, materials science and similar disciplines
- Documented experience in the generic characterization of perovskites, both single crystals and films (SEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman)
- Documented experience in the study of photophysical properties of semiconductors (continuous wave light sources and time resolved spectroscopy)
- Strong publication record
- Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
- Good command of spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Previous experience in ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopies transient absorption
- Previous experience in synthesis of perovskite materials or photo/electro catalysts
- Possess strong problem-solving attitude, spirit of innovation and creativity and high motivation to learn
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Availability to business travel within Italy for training on the project and conduct experiments
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- Private health care coverage (depending on your role and contract)
- Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who permanently work abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
