About the Role and Our Philosophy
This is a unique opportunity to join a small, pilot program at its inception stage and play a central role in shaping its educational model. The program is built on the belief that learning should be meaningful, connected, and deeply human, with curriculum, environment, and relationships working together to support the full development of each child.
You will teach a small mixed-age class of 4–5 students (ages 8–10) while contributing to the design of a learning experience that integrates academic rigor with real-world relevance. Learning is not treated as a set of isolated subjects but as an interconnected process, where literacy, mathematics, science, and humanities are woven together into coherent, interdisciplinary studies. Students engage in hands- on, inquiry-based learning, regularly extending beyond the classroom into nature, community, and the local Italian context, using the environment as an essential part of the curriculum.
At the core of the model is a strong commitment to the individual learner. Teaching is designed around each student’s needs, with differentiation and learning support embedded into daily practice rather than added as an afterthought. The small class size allows for deep relationships, high engagement, and a strong sense of belonging, enabling teachers to support both academic progress and social- emotional development.
As a living and evolving program, this environment values adaptability, reflection, and collaboration, with teachers actively shaping daily rhythms, curriculum, and the overall learning culture. While grounded in experiential and personalized learning, the program maintains a clear academic trajectory informed by international standards, preparing students to become curious, capable, and thoughtful learners.
What You’ll Do
- You will act as the homeroom teacher for a small mixed-age class, teaching English Language and Literacy, Mathematics, and integrated Humanities and Science.
- You will design interdisciplinary units that emphasize project-based and experiential learning, creating meaningful connections across subject areas.
- Working as part of a small team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum, drawing on adapted American (US) standards alongside international frameworks such as IB- or IGCSE-informed progression. This includes building unit plans, assessment approaches, and clear learning progressions.
- You will differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning needs and collaborate closely with a Learning Support specialist to provide both targeted interventions and inclusive classroom practices.
- Supporting the development of study skills, executive functioning, independence, and confidence is a key part of the role.
- You will also plan and lead regular outdoor learning experiences, using the surrounding environment to connect academic content with real-world contexts, including Italian culture, history, and geography.
- In addition, you will serve as the primary adult anchor for your students, fostering a classroom culture grounded in kindness, authenticity, responsibility, and strong peer relationships.
Who You Are
- You are a native or near-native English speaker with the legal right to work in the EU.
- You hold a relevant teaching qualification and have experience teaching primary-aged students.
- You demonstrate strong foundational knowledge in literacy and mathematics instruction at the primary level.
- You see education as a way to cultivate critical thinking, curiosity, and a genuine joy of learning, rather than relying on rote instruction or repetitive worksheets.
- You aim to spark excitement and intrinsic motivation in students by designing engaging, meaningful learning experiences.
- You are open-minded, reflective, and willing to question traditional approaches in order to better support how children learn.
- You are comfortable working in a small, evolving environment where flexibility, initiative, and collaboration are essential.
- Ideally, you have experience with mixed-age classrooms, project-based or experiential learning, and an interest in curriculum design and innovation.

Compensation
This role offers a competitive salary based on experience (aligned with top-tier private / international school benchmarks in Italy). It has the potential for role expansion and compensation.

Pay: €32,000.00 - €40,000.00 per year
