As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Sr. Specialist, Global IT Network. This position can be located in either Pomezia, Alanno, Milan, or Bologna.
Scope of the role:
The resource will be responsible for the design, evolution, operation and security of the enterprise and industrial network infrastructure across Alfasigma's corporate and manufacturing sites. The role ensures network reliability, performance, segmentation and regulatory compliance, acting as the technical reference point for LAN/WAN, data center networking, wireless and IT/OT connectivity in a regulated (GxP/GMP) environment. The resource is also expected to manage the full lifecycle of the systems under their responsibility and to operate confidently across hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
Your key responsibilities:
- Design, configure and maintain enterprise networks based on Cisco technology (routing, switching, VLAN, VRF, spanning-tree).
- Manage WAN/SD-WAN connectivity, MPLS and inter-site links, including performance and capacity management.
- Administer data center networking (core/distribution/access, Nexus, fabric architectures).
- Manage enterprise wireless infrastructure (controllers, access points, site surveys, coverage optimization).
- Configure and operate perimeter and internal firewalls, network segmentation and IT/OT segregation.
- Implement and maintain network security controls (NAC, 802.1X, ACL, micro-segmentation, hardening).
- Support secure remote access and VPN architectures.
- Manage the full lifecycle of network systems and devices (provisioning, configuration, firmware/patching, upgrades, capacity management and secure decommissioning).
- Monitor network performance, availability and capacity; manage incidents and root-cause analysis.
- Contribute to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for network services.
- Maintain technical and validation documentation in line with GxP/GMP requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers and system integrators.
- Support network modernization initiatives (SD-WAN, Zero Trust, OT network security, network automation).
Who are you:
Technical requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR/ASR, Wireless LAN Controllers).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking (MX security appliances, MS switches, MR wireless, Meraki Dashboard, Auto VPN and zero-touch provisioning).
- Solid knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VLAN, VRF).
- Experience with firewalling and network security (Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet or equivalent).
- Experience with SD-WAN and WAN optimization technologies.
- Knowledge of enterprise Wi-Fi design and management.
- Solid knowledge of server virtualization on both Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere/ESXi (vCenter, clustering, HA/DR).
- Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platforms (VMware vSAN, Nutanix, Azure Stack HCI / Azure Local).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and hybrid-cloud services (Azure Arc, hybrid connectivity, Azure VMware Solution).
- Ability to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of systems and infrastructure (deployment, patching, upgrades, capacity and decommissioning).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, PRTG).
- Understanding of IT/OT segregation and industrial networking principles.
- Network automation/scripting fundamentals (Python, Ansible) considered a plus.
Required / preferred certifications
- Required: Cisco CCNA (or equivalent foundational networking certification).
- Strongly preferred: Cisco CCNP Enterprise and/or CCNP Security.
- Valued as a plus: Fortinet NSE 4+, Cisco SD-WAN / DNA Center (CCNP-level), ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Security+.
Regulatory context requirements
- Experience in regulated environments (Pharma, Medical, Food, Automotive).
- Experience in GMP environments is considered a strong added value.
- Knowledge of GxP, Annex 11 and Data Integrity principles.
- Experience supporting audits (AIFA/FDA/customers).
- Experience operating within validated environments (CSV).
