WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join Bain’s Research and Data Services team in Milan, supporting consulting, expert delivery, and practice teams with high-quality business research, data services, information management, and research enablement.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders across Bain to understand project context, identify information needs, and deliver clear, accurate, and well-organized research. You’ll also collaborate with colleagues across research and practice teams to share knowledge, strengthen research capabilities, and contribute to ongoing product, service, and process improvements.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As a Senior Specialist, Research and Data Services, you’ll provide desktop research and data services support across short- to medium-term projects. You’ll bring specialized knowledge of relevant research resources, with a focus on supporting Bain’s practice areas, including TMT.
This is an individual contributor role where you’ll manage your own deliverables with limited oversight, support research planning and execution, and help capture and share research experience across the team. You’ll also contribute to asset-building activities, training, and service improvements that help the team continue to grow and evolve.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You’ll conduct business research using desktop resources, business databases, and research tools to support project teams and internal stakeholders.
- You’ll work proactively with internal customers to understand project context, clarify information needs, and deliver accurate, comprehensive research outputs.
- You’ll contribute as an active member of an industry team, supporting complex and specialized research while also conducting general research across Bain’s areas of interest.
- You’ll apply local, regional, and global data sources effectively, including general business resources and industry- or capability-specific tools.
- You’ll build relationships with internal stakeholders, gather feedback on research outputs, and help resolve research-related questions or issues.
- You’ll support asset-building activities, including processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging, serials check-in, end-user system updates, circulation tracking, and ongoing maintenance of department assets.
- You’ll participate in knowledge sharing, training, product and service evaluations, process improvements, and tool innovation initiatives.
- You may conduct just-in-time and group training for researchers, consulting teams, and consulting support staff.
- You may lead small-scale initiatives and coach less experienced colleagues from time to time.
ABOUT YOU
- You have experience conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, market research, professional services, or equivalent environment.
- Experience using business research databases such as Factiva, LSEG/Refinitiv, S&P Capital IQ, or similar tools would be beneficial
- You bring strong knowledge across a broad range of commercial, multi-industry, and economic topics, with the ability to build expertise in assigned affiliation areas.
- You are fluent in written and verbal communication in your native language and English.
- You are highly organized and able to prioritize effectively, manage time well, and work under pressure.
- You are enthusiastic, dedicated, hardworking, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
- You have experience working effectively with diverse stakeholders and across cultures.
- You are proactive in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and ways of working.

- You have training and presentation skills.
- You have a degree in Information Science, business, or an equivalent higher education qualification.
In accordance with applicable Italian pay transparency requirements, Bain & Company provides information regarding the compensation applicable to this position.
The annualized base salary range for this role in Italy is €35,750 - €42,750 gross per year.
This compensation information has been determined based on objective and gender-neutral criteria and reflects the compensation normally applicable to the position at the time of publication. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and the scope of responsibilities associated with the role.
Variable Compensation:
This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 7% of base salary. Bonus awards are discretionary and actual bonus outcomes depend on individual and firm performance.
