We are the tech company behind the media and sporting moments that matter.
Over four decades, Deltatre has grown to employ more than 1,000 experts worldwide.
We're trusted by the biggest broadcasters, telcos, media companies, sport governing bodies, leagues, and federations.
Our products, innovation, dependability, and people continue to redefine how the value of live and on-demand sport, film, TV, and news content is maximized across streaming, digital, data, graphics, officiating, and through marketplace strategy and growth services.
This role is offered on an Italian employment contract. Candidates must be based in Italy as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation.
This role sits within Deltatre's Engineering & Technology function, at the interface between clients — both external (broadcasters, rights holders, OTT operators) and internal (product, delivery, commercial) — and the multi-disciplinary teams building the platforms that power OTT streaming, VOD, digital media, and connected consumer experiences for major international sports and entertainment brands. Technical Directors are the point of technical accountability across the full lifecycle of a project, from architecture and estimation through delivery and post-launch iteration.
As Technical Director, you hold full technical ownership across projects spanning multiple platforms and technologies — web front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React), .NET and C# backend services, and native mobile (Android, iOS). You lead architectural decisions, drive requirements gathering and estimation, and combine hands-on technical practice with the leadership and mentoring that scale a team's engineering standards over time. The role rewards technical breadth, credibility with clients under pressure, and the discipline to keep documentation, code quality, and delivery predictability at the level Deltatre platforms require.
You have led the technical delivery of large-scale, multi-platform projects before — over months, not sprints — and you can hold both the architecture conversation and the client escalation conversation with the same steadiness. You are credible with engineers because you still do the work, and credible with clients because you can explain what is happening technically without hiding behind jargon.
Required
- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale projects or products over multi-month cycles in a technical leadership role — ideally in OTT streaming, digital agency, or a product-based organisation
- Broad technical fluency across the full delivery stack: web front-end (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS), .NET / C#, native Android, native iOS
- Deep expertise in at least one core mobile stack — Android (Java / Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger, Gradle) or iOS (Swift, Alamofire, Kingfisher, In-App Purchase)
- Solution architecture experience for digital media platforms, with a working understanding of the trade-offs across the delivery stack
- Requirements gathering, refinement, and estimation for complex multi-stream projects
- Stakeholder management experience — external (clients, partners) and internal (product, delivery, commercial)
- Demonstrated track record of upskilling teams through code review, mentoring, and technical guidance by example
- Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Working experience of Agile delivery in practice — not only in principle
- Documentation discipline — solution architecture records, technical specifications, decision logs
- Fluent written and spoken English
Valued
- Experience leading projects across multiple regions and time zones
- Familiarity with performance optimisation techniques and tooling for high-scale consumer platforms
- Comfort with rapid prototyping as a means of validating architectural or interaction decisions
- Exposure to multiple software delivery process styles and project management methodologies
Background in OTT, VOD, live broadcast, or media technology

Process and what to expect
Salary starts from of €32K at entry level rising to €90K for those with significant relevant experience. Where you land depends on your experience, technical background, and the stack you bring. If your expectations sit outside the range, tell us anyway —we're happy to have an open conversation. Internal progression is assessed through a structured process combining a technical assessment and a competency-based interview. The role falls under CCNL Commercio| D.Lgs. 96/2026.
Assessment stages:
-
Introductory conversation: a step for us to get to know each other better, and for us to answer all questions you might have around Deltatre.
- 1-hour Technical round of Interview: we will deep dive on your experience and explore the technical and architectural decisions you have made in your past work.
- 1-hour Competency Based Interview: we will ask you situational questions around how you deal with real-life scenarios at work. Easier doing it, more than explaining it.
If any of these formats would be difficult for you, tell us - we adjust regularly and can usually accommodate.
Accessibility and accommodation questions are welcome at any stage. Tell us what would work for you.
