Description:
Position Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for supporting the manufacturing activities of Decco's postharvest solutions, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. The role involves operating production equipment, preparing raw materials, monitoring production processes, conducting quality checks, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The Production Operator contributes to the delivery of high-quality products that help customers preserve freshness, reduce postharvest losses, and improve the shelf life of fresh produce.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Operate production equipment and machinery according to established procedures and work instructions.
Prepare, weigh, mix, package, and label products as required by production schedules.
Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
Support line changeovers, equipment setup, and production adjustments.
Ensure production targets are achieved within established timelines.
Quality Assurance
Perform routine quality checks and inspections during production activities.
Verify that raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products meet quality requirements.
Record production and quality data accurately and timely.
Report deviations, non-conformities, or quality concerns to supervisors.
Health, Safety & Environment
Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and food safety procedures.
Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses promptly.
Inventory & Materials Handling
Receive, move, and store raw materials and finished goods as required.
Ensure proper identification and traceability of materials.
Assist with stock counts and inventory control activities.
Continuous Improvement
Support initiatives aimed at improving productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
Participate in team meetings and training activities.
Contribute ideas for process optimization and waste reduction.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Technical or vocational training is considered an advantage.
Experience
Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, chemical, food, agricultural, or industrial environment is preferred.
Experience in packaging, warehouse, or production operations is an advantage.
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of production processes and equipment operation.
Ability to follow work instructions, production records, and quality procedures.
Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.
