Purpose
As a Lead Cost Estimator, you are accountable to deliver in due time, the most accurate cost estimate for a defined scope.
You will ensure to give the best cost view for a given system, which will allow the most accurate and efficient financial tracking during the project execution phase.
You also contribute to higher level perspective both on bids and team organisation (coordinating/supervising other estimators at bid or team level, making strategic decisions, continuous improvement for process and tools ...)
Responsibilities
Collect and analyse cost and associated technical data on previous projects for both gaining knowledge and having benchmarking reference
Maintain up-to-date databases
Acquire good knowledge on products and project execution
Master and apply estimating techniques as well as governance
Identify or support tools and methods improvement for enhanced quality of estimates, benchmarking and reporting
Deliver estimates in timely manner with best accuracy (depending conditions and inputs provided)
Provide quality analysis and reporting to Commercial and Management team
Ensure transparency and traceability of costs and associated assumptions
Liaise, understand and challenge project team and various disciplines (engineering, supply chain, construction...)
Able to identify and use the most adequate estimating method to reach the goal within time available (including shortcuts, prioritization, using input or benchmark in educated way...)
Coordinate, supervise, coach other estimators
Manage ressources in-line with requirements and needs
Manage high level stakeholders and be in direct interface with Sales, Client, Top management
Stand for their view and adopt strong position: challenge/question requests and expectations in given context and based on current capabilities; contribute to strategic decisions on specific bids or team organization
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Finance
Experience
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in cost estimating, with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
